Surfing is a chance to disconnect from the noise of the world and reconnect with something deeper within myself. As I paddle out in the morning, the world around me fades away. Worries and distractions dissolve. Time seems to slow down. I feel a deep connection to the subtle movement of the ocean.
I created this photograph on the coast of Oceanside, California at my favorite surf spot, Oceanside Pier. A small group of surfers paddles out in the blue-green waters speckled with the residual froth of a large set wave that had just broken.
